Remote won't control music app
If you are unable to use your Bose remote to control playback commands (i.e. play/pause and skip track) in a mobile phone or computer audio application, view the following:
To control iTunes remotely, ensure the feature is enabled in the iTunes settings menu.
In iTunes, open Preferences, click the Devices tab, and enable Allow iTunes audio control from remote speakers.
Determine if all audio from the computer is being sent to the SoundLink Air.
If audio played from a non-iTunes program can be heard through the Bose system, the SoundLink Air is selected as the audio output device for the Mac running OS X 10.8. This setting will prevent iTunes from responding to transport controls and remote volume changes will not be reflected in the iTunes volume slider
To resolve this issue, change the Sound Output device in System Preferences menu to something other than SoundLink Air (such as Internal Speakers) then go back to iTunes, send audio to the SoundLink Air and test the remote functionality. Once the Bose system is no longer selected as the audio output device of the computer, iTunes volume and transport controls will work as expected
